Welcome to Sunset Pediatric Dentistry

acd-15Please call today to make your appointment!

In accordance with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Academy of Pediatrics, we recommend that your child first visit our office within six months of the eruption of his/her first tooth or before his/her first birthday. Seeing your child early will allow us to evaluate their mouths and advise on any potential or current issues.

During your first visit, we will strive first and foremost to make your child’s visit to the dentist a positive experience so that they will look forward to returning in the future. We believe that it is extremely important to foster the development of a person who will seek dental care for a lifetime. Additional examinations will depend, in part, on your child’s age and cooperation and will usually include:

  • Meeting our doctor and staff
  • A cleaning
  • A comprehensive examination
  • Treatment plan for any issues that need addressing
  • X-Rays if needed
  • Fluoride treatment
  • Diet and oral hygiene education

We welcome parents to accompany their child throughout the examination. However, in some instances, children may be better behaved when seen on their own. Please follow the lead of our staff and doctor so that your child can best receive the care they deserve.

We highly recommend that children under the age of five be seen in the mornings when they are still fresh; we are happy to provide an excused absence form for your child’s school if needed.

When preparing your child for his or her first dental visit, keep a positive and excited attitude. Explain that it will be a fun visit where our staff will clean their teeth and leave the rest of the details to us!

Please download, print, and complete the New Patient Health History Form that you can access below. Bringing a completed form to your first visit ensures that we will see you and your child on time without paperwork delays.
